What is Dynamine?

Dynamine asks a wonderfully literal question: what if Minesweeper were actually about mining? HexagonNico's game turns the familiar number puzzle into a top-down, procedurally generated mine where you uncover ore, avoid explosives, sell valuables, and improve your equipment.

Controls

Use mouse, touch, or gamepad as labeled on the itch.io player. Open the host's help / gear menu on first launch for the live binding list — patches can remapp keys.

Quick tips

  • Work outward from information-rich edges rather than guessing into a large unopened wall.
  • Recount all eight neighboring cells before committing to a risky dig.
  • Sell with a purpose: choose the tool or upgrade that removes your current slowdown.
  • Mark or remember confirmed explosive cells so you do not solve the same clue twice.

Dynamine Guide: Minesweeper Meets Mining

Read the clues, avoid explosives, sell ore, and dig toward deeper layers.

The browser demo is playable on the official itch.io page. Desktop demo builds are also available for Windows, macOS, and Linux, and the project remains in development.

The rule that keeps you alive

Numbers on revealed ground tell you how many explosive cells are hidden among the eight adjacent spaces. Digging a safe cell can uncover empty ground, ore, or a larger open area. Digging an explosive cell ends the run.

That means every swing should begin with the same question: what do the visible numbers prove? If the marked explosives around a number already equal that number, its other covered neighbors are safe. If the number of covered neighbors equals the explosives still missing, those covered cells are dangerous.

Mining and progression

Safe digging produces valuables you can sell for money. Money buys upgrades and special tools that make excavation and earning faster. Each layer also contains an elevator; finding it lets you descend toward rarer materials and greater danger.

Later systems broaden the mining fantasy. Minecart tracks help you travel through a growing cave network, while furnaces let you process raw ore into more valuable goods. The world is procedurally generated, with different resources, biomes, abandoned structures, and occasional treasures.

Beginner tips

  • Work outward from information-rich edges rather than guessing into a large unopened wall.
  • Recount all eight neighboring cells before committing to a risky dig.
  • Sell with a purpose: choose the tool or upgrade that removes your current slowdown.
  • Mark or remember confirmed explosive cells so you do not solve the same clue twice.
  • Search methodically for the elevator; random tunnels create more risk and more travel time.
